A Little More Like Spring

A crisp, clear Spring morning looking southwest over Taos from El Salto. I got a clear view of the entire Taos Valley this morning hiking El Salto, with the only snow a thousand feet behind me on the higher peaks. Spring has arrived, finally.

Our Ongoing Winter in Taos

The view out my office window around 8am April 30th, 2010 I moved to Taos to experience actual seasons, but I'm starting to wonder if Spring is going to be able to overtake old man Winter.

Our First Winter in Taos

By mid-January, the ice reach down from the top of the falls had met the ice collecting at the bottom. I moved to Taos to experience actual seasons; and the western slopes of the Sangre de Cristos gave me exactly what I asked for. When the temperatures outside my tiny mountain chalet plummeted to 7 degrees the night before Halloween, we knew it too.

Even the locals, referred to as TaoseƱos, have remarked on the great quantity of snow we received this past season. It was certainly more snow than I had seen in a single winter in my first 37 years. I definitely was not disappointed.
